The Hotel Cecil in Wondai is a venue you won't want to miss. Built in 1911 is has the ornate framework and ceilings of the past. It gives an atmosphere to the pub that you won't want to leave. The locals are freindly and there is an ATM machine available. Just ask Jim or Ruth whats happening and theres sure to be something on. You can get a room upstairs overnight or weekly or your whole group can be accomodated.
Wondai is in the heart of the South Burnett Region of Queensland. There are several ways to get to Wondai including the Bunya Highway from Kingaroy and Dalby and the Burnett Highway from Gympie. You can also get to Wondai via the D'Aguilar Highway from Caboolture and the Brisbane Valley Highway through Esk.
Wondai has a population of about 2000 people (4000 in the shire). There are well-tended parks all over town and there is one just across the road from the Hotel Cecil. Wondai itself has many attractions so you won't get bored. There are antique stores adn museums and art galleries.
There are also several events during the year in the park across from The Hotel Cecil like the Wondai Garden Festival in April and the Wondai Arts Festival in October. There are markets every second Saturday where you can get local produce.
